A widow who must stay home to take care of her son buys groceries and pays utility bills

When schools closed because of COVID-19, Dianne, a widow and single mom in Chicago, had no choice but to stay home to take care of her son, Curtis. “He is nine years old, has ADHD and is on medication,” she says. The pandemic has made it impossible for Dianne, a domestic worker, to work and take care of her son, and without her paycheck, she cannot support her family. After receiving funds from #GiveTogetherNow this week, Dianne says, “I was able to pay my rent, my light and gas bills and put groceries in my house. No one ever did nothing like this for me ever…This is truly a blessing from God and I’m forever grateful.”
